JAKARTA – Turkish defense company Aselsan introduced its state-of-the-art AESA Nose Radar technology last month, increasing the scope of domestic industrial progress as the radar will be used on the most advanced jets and drones. The AESA Aircraft Nose radar, which successfully completed its maiden flight with the F-16

This radar will upgrade the F-16 platform into a 4.5 generation aircraft. Meanwhile, KAAN fighter jets and unmanned aerial combat vehicles (UACVs) will increase to fifth generation platforms and beyond with additional capabilities and low visibility features.

Preparations for radar mass production at the Aselsan technology center in Ankara have been completed, ensuring perfect production from chip-level manufacturing to advanced integration.

Turkey’s Head of the Presidency of the Defense Industry (SSB) Haluk Görg\un stated his pride in developing AESA radar technology for the country.

“We are proud to introduce AESA radar technology, one of the most advanced aviation technologies in the world, to our country,” he said, quoted by the Daily Sabah on April 1.

In addition to integration with warplanes such as the F-16 platforms Nazg\”ur, H\”urjet and KAAN, AESA’s technology will also be used at Turkey’s UAV Aklogncrypto and ANKA-3.

The AESA Aircraft’s Nose Radar will soon begin flying with Turkey’s Akryptcmen and UAVs, with flights expected to begin this year.

AESA’s high-tech radar from Aselsan is expected to increase market share in the field of air defense, naval platforms, and reconnaissance radars.

This radar, which is important for air platforms, offers automatic recognition, multitarget tracking, ground mapping, distance measurements, automatic altitude determination, underwater surveillance with a synthetic opening radar (SAR), automatic target constraints with AI-backed algorithms, broadband radar spectra monitoring, directed electronic interference, and improved ammunition guidance.

Meanwhile, Aselsan CEO Ahmet Akyol highlighted the usability of AESA technology, by emphasizing its applications in various domains including air, land, and sea.

He noted that the development of the AESA radar system carried out by Aselsan allowed Turkey to maintain complete control over technology and data, ensuring the highest level of security and capability.
