Turkish Airlines, the airline that flies to the most countries in the world, and KM Malta Airlines, the flag carrier of Malta, signed a code-sharing agreement to operate joint flights, effective as of June 15.

The code sharing agreement was signed at the IATA AGM organization held in Dubai. The agreement in question will offer passengers of both flag carrier airlines more flexible travel options on direct flights between Istanbul and Malta. Within the scope of the cooperation, KM Malta Airlines will place its marketing flight numbers on Turkish Airlines’ Istanbul-Malta flights.

Commenting on the agreement, Turkish Airlines General Manager Bilal Ekşi said; “We are pleased that our codeshare agreement with KM Malta Airlines will re-strengthen the cooperation between the two countries. This partnership not only enables Maltese passengers to benefit from Turkish Airlines’ extensive global network, but also encourages more visitors from Malta to visit our unique country, Turkey. Likewise, Malta, the fascinating island country of the Mediterranean, will attract more visitors. “We look forward to a successful and long-term cooperation.” said.

KM Malta Airlines Chief Executive Officer David G. Curmi said; “We are very pleased to count Turkish Airlines among our codeshare partners. Istanbul is an important hub, operating two flights to Malta every day and offering a wide choice of destinations to our Maltese customers. Additionally, it will offer our international passengers enhanced connectivity opportunities via Malta International Airport. “This also shows that KM Malta Airlines is considered a preferred partner by major carriers.”
