Brazil also beaten in the men’s semi-finals
Although we already knew that Les Bleus had finished seventh in the men’s tournament after beating Egypt 6-4 in the classification match, the semi-finals also delivered their verdict on Wednesday in a boiling hot Arena Paris Sud.
A few hours before the Brazilians’ defeat, their male counterparts had done no better, despite being the defending champions of the competition. The South Americans were stunned by Ukraine 6-4 in the semi-final and will play for bronze this Thursday.
As in the women’s tournament, Brazil will face China in the bronze medal match. In the other semi-final, a few hours later, the Chinese lost heavily to Japan 13-5 in a 100% Asian duel.
The grand final, which will pit Ukraine against Japan, will be played on Thursday at 7pm for the Goalball epilogue to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
