Former world number 12 Marketa Vondrousova conceded just four games to Rebecca Marino on Thursday to get what could be a promising Indian Wels campaign up and running. The current world number 105 is on the long road back to the top of the sport after a long absence from tour with an injury she suffered almost a year ago and she has impressed since her return, beating the likes of Ons Jabeur and Ekaterina Alexandrova so far this season. World number 32 Marie Bouzkova received a bye to the second round as the 28th seed here but she could well have done with an easier first round match after winning just two of her seven matches so far this season. The 24-year-old should come into form sooner rather than later after an excellent breakthrough campaign last season but this looks a tough test too early. Vondrousova beat Bouzkova in straight sets on clay two years ago and she can be backed to make it 2-0 with an outright win here.
