ALICEVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) – Activists in Aliceville organized an event to make the Thanksgiving holiday special for all this year.
Thanksgiving came early for residents in Aliceville over the weekend as they gathered for a turkey giveaway sponsored by members of the Engaging Our Community Outreach Program and Rosetta Minor. Minor and members of the outreach program say that the giveaway, held on Nov. 18, at Aliceville City Park, helped to ensure that residents could have a warm meal for the holiday.
Minor said that the event served 175 seniors who would have otherwise not had this holiday experience. She added that her team of volunteers gave away 125 hams, 35 turkeys, 65 hens and boxes of greens to those who may be alone over the holiday.
