‌Dreaming of the summer holidays already? You’re not alone as thousands of Britons are already searching for this year’s dream spot.

Spain might be the usual leading hotspot but this year Turkey might be top of the list, according to new research from the travel experts at Bounce.

There were over 100,000 Google searches for Turkey between October and December last year.

A Bounce spokesperson said: “Thanks to the rich history and culture of cities like Istanbul, and the year-round sunny weather and warm beaches of Antalya, Turkey can be crowned the most popular vacation destination for Brits in the new year.”

So where are the best places to visit in Turkey?

Thanks to its southern European location, Turkey enjoys temperatures above 20 degrees well into September.

If it’s a city break on the agenda, there’s nowhere better than Istanbul. The vibrant city has some of the continent’s best food and shopping as well as incredible cultural sites.

The Hagia Sophia Mosque is one of the world’s most beautiful buildings while the Blue Mosque is an architectural marvel.

Tourists looking for beaches will find 8,000km of breathtaking coastline with more than 300 Blue Flag beaches.

Antalya, on the Turkish Riviera, is one of the country’s leading destinations and there’s plenty of activities for families in the pretty resort area.

The Bodrum Peninsula is another top-rated spot with world-class water sports and a range of bars and restaurants.
