Carlos Alcaraz v Tallon Griekspoor Head to Head
Alcaraz won their only tour-level meeting in Wimbledon last year. They have also met twice at the lower level with both sharing the spoils.
Alcaraz Makes a Brisk Start
Injury delayed his season, but ever since he began the 2023 campaign, Carlos Alcaraz has looked in top form.
The world no. 2 won the title in Buenos Aires by beating Cameron Norrie in the final and then finished runner-up to Norrie in Rio.
Now he has begun his third tournament of the season with a straight sets win over Thanasi Kokkinakis in Indian Wells. In what turned out to be a convincing performance, Alcaraz dropped just seven points of his serve in the entire match. He didn’t face a single break point while he converted 3 of 9 to win 6-3, 6-3 in an hour and 18 minutes.
The 19-year-old improved his season record to 9-1.
A seven-time champion on the tour, he is playing in Indian Wells for the third time. Last year, he had made it to the semifinals of the tournament before falling to Rafael Nadal in three sets.

Griekspoor, the world no. 36, is off to a great start in 2023. He claimed his maiden ATP title by beating Benjamin Bonzi in teh Maharashtra Open final and then reached the third round of a major for the first time at the Australian Open.
He was also a semifinalist in Rotterdam, but went down in the second round in both Doha and Dubai.
Can he pull off an upset win in the third round at Indian Wells?
Alcaraz v Griekspoor Prediction and Tip
Although Griekspoor has been impressive this season, Alcaraz has been playing at another level over the last one year. The Spaniard is the favourite in this contest and should not have much trouble in reaching the next round.
