Adam Schefter ruthlessly trolled NFL fans with Jets trade news amid Aaron Rodgers rumors

The NFL world is waiting with bated breath at what seems like an impending Aaron Rodgers trade to the New York Jets. Even bettors are starting to (weirdly) hammer New York’s recently rising odds for Super Bowl 58.

People with significant access to pro football teams, like ESPN’s Adam Schefter, understand everyone’s waiting for the Jets’ shoe to drop. Thursday morning saw Schefter play a merciless joke on football fans.

As the Rodgers’ trade apparently gained “optimistic” momentum, Schefter played right into the latest developments. He first teased a Jets trade coming up in one tweet with ellipses.

Oh, it was happening! Rodgers was leaving Green Bay!

Right? Wrong.

The Jets did make a legitimate trade, but as Schefter’s ensuing tweet could clarify, it was just a run-of-the-mill deal involving the Baltimore Ravens, safety Chuck Clark, and a seventh-round draft pick:

Oof. That’s not the deal everyone was looking for, Adam! That’s cold.

A Rodgers trade might indeed be happening soon. And it seems folks like Schefter will have their fun until it (officially) happens.
